Office Gadgets to Put On Your Wish List

Banana-shaped banana holder, electric egg boiler, spring-loaded potato masher… The world of weird and wonderful gadgets isn’t just confined to the kitchen. There is a whole host of office gadgets on the market, some of which is actually useful (and some of which is just fun).

Here are some of our favourite office gadgets (the good, the bad, and the daft).

Multi-device Bluetooth keyboards

These allow you to connect multiple devices to one keyboard and flip between the lot. Great for accessibility, but in practice could end up leading to a state of perpetual distraction.

There is also a danger of making the most magnificent mix-up. You’re composing an email to a client on one device whilst simultaneously reserving a lunch table for a get-together with friends on another. Then, on a third device, a message from your mum pops up reminding you to wish your dad a happy birthday. Before you know it, you’ve booked a table to take your dad out for lunch, wished the restaurant owner a happy birthday, and signed the email to your client off with a very over familiar ‘Love you x’.

Super useful, but needs concentration to keep track of where you’re up to.

Desks with integrated treadmills

These are an innovative way to boost physical activity during the working day. Just remember not to pant down the phone.

Smart notebooks

Designed for those greedy guts amongst us who want to have their cake and eat it, smart notebooks have been sent to satisfy both digital and analogue note taking. What looks like a traditional notebook and pen is actually a smart screen and stylus.

Electronic posture alert

A hand-sized gadget which plugs into your computer screen and uses sensors to determine your seating position. Get too close to the screen or start slumping in the afternoon and this little contraption will buzz and prompt you to change posture.

A holographic workstation

Yes, you read that correctly – a workstation which is entirely holographic. We don’t know what else to say on the matter.
