Why WordPress Is a Great Option for Your Business Website

So you’re looking to build or rebuild a website but are unsure which CMS to use. We’ve found that WordPress is a good option for many business websites despite differing aims and interests. Here’s why we think it could be right for you:

It’s easy to use

The great thing about WordPress is that even if you’re not very tech-savvy you can make a professional looking website. If on the other hand, you’re a bit more technical, then you WordPress is open for you to take your website to the next level. You won’t necessarily need to hire a coder to get the most out of WordPress but you could if you wanted to.

It can rank easily

WordPress is pretty straightforward and with handy plugins like Yoast, you can easily optimise your website for search engines. Yoast will give each page and post a score based on how well it will rank in search engines. It also gives you a list of tips on how to make it rank better.

However, there’s a lot more to SEO than just following instructions in Yoast. There’s a lot of research and adaptation needed to rank better which is where we come in.

Community

There’s a huge online network for WordPress that provides guidance and support whenever you come across a problem. The WordPress forums also allow you to exchange ideas and connect with the online community.

It’s easy to go mobile

Nowadays more and more people are using their phones to check out websites so it’s important that your website is prepared for that. WordPress makes it easier to see an example of your website over mobile and adapt it where necessary.

Free WordPress.org versus WordPress.com

If you’re thinking about going for WordPress, you might have heard of the two different versions. But what’s the difference?

The main difference between these two options is who’s hosting your website. With WordPress.org, you are responsible for hosting your own website with a host of your choice. You have to get a domain name and then you can download WordPress for free.

With WordPress.com, WordPress will take care of the hosting for you. You can get a custom domain but you won’t have to bother with paying for hosting or downloading the software.

Which is better?

If you want something hassle-free and cheap, then WordPress.com is probably better for you. However, while there are options for upgrades, eventually you’ll hit a limit with what you can do.

If you want more control and customisation options then WordPress.org will be more for you. You can install plugins, themes and customise code to turn your website into something that’s truly yours.
