Congratulations, you’ve made it to Christmas (almost)! However if you still find yourself with jobs outstanding, here are some ideas to get through it.
Make a List…and Check it Twice.
If you haven’t already then make a list of the tasks you feel are outstanding. You might find they’re not as excessive as you think. Drafting a list can help ease some concern and help you prioritise your jobs.
Prioritise
Take a look at your to do list, then rank those jobs in importance from one to five, with five being most important. You might find that anything that ranks from three or below can be completed after Christmas once you return to the office.
Anything ranking fourth or fifth is probably what you’re working on right now. So get those boxed off and while crafting a new to do list ready for the new year.
Give Yourself a Deadline
This might seem counterproductive to reducing your worry but having a deadline gives you a clear time period to get all your jobs done by and might speed up a few of your activities.
Either remember a time mentally or set yourself a countdown timer on your phone or computer. Knowing how many hours you’ve got left works amazingly well at getting your jobs in order and knowing which tasks really are crucial to you.
Set Your Out of Office a Day Early
Unless you’re expecting an urgent email then why not set your out of office a day earlier than needed and close your emails down. Focus on the tasks in front of you and you won’t be distracted by the beep of a new email.
Above are just a couple of tips to get that last day of work done. Hopefully this means you can now close the door on the last year, enjoy some family time and be recharged ready for whatever the new year brings.
Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year!
